Back in 1999, a couple of super talented cats were outcast from the preexistent A Cappella groups at McGill University and decided their own thing, creating a group called Effusion that steered away from the more formal choir setting and based their style on R&B, Soul and Hip-Hop. Almost 12 years later and this group is still running strong, accepting new members every year [from the grand public as well as McGillians] and creating strong bonds between the choir freshman and cats who have stuck around for many years. Effusion has already dropped 3 amazing albums that can be found on their website and they are continuously keeping contact with the public by performing in competitions, fundraisers, soirees, festivals and even your local bar. Yesterday, Say Word had the wonderful opportunity of having John and James, who are both fourth year effusionians, in the studio to talk about their journey with the group, share some great tracks with us and of course invite us to their big end of session concert this Sunday at Club Soda.
Say Word is giving away two tickets to go check out this amazing vocal family to the first two people to send us an e-mail to email@example.com with subject line: Effusion’s Got Soul!
Today we had the wonderful opportunity to interview Xav Ier, one of the founders of Frobruary, and talk about their upcoming events and the importance of Black History month.
We also took the time to talk about Phife Dawg’s recent show at Club Soda and of course we hooked you guys up with some new music!
Tune in Son!
